Project Khel

It is a Delhi based initiative to foster unity, friendship and understanding through Sports especially football. It offers an opportunity to the needy but talented sportsmen to not only live their dream of playing the game but also gives them a chance to showcase their talent at a National level.

The Beginning

The Northeast part of India is predominantly a football (soccer) loving region. This region has given many National and International players to the country. Many such aspiring Footballers have migrated to Delhi NCR either for studies or in search of a job to support their families back home. Even though they are busy during the day with their work, these young boys have not given up on their dream of playing Football.

Keeping this in mind, we came up with the idea to use this love for Football as a medium for youth development and national integration.

On ground Accomplishments:

In 2017, we tied up with the Gorkha Youth and Students Association (GYASA) to create a network of players, clubs, and north-east youths playing football in the National Capital Region of Delhi.

  • Our first achievement was to field a Football Team to participate in the prestigious 11th ONGC Tamchon North-East Football Tournament, a community-based football tournament organized by the Tangkhul Naga Society New Delhi, held at Ambedkar Stadium, New Delhi. This is a prestigious tournament in which teams from different North-east communities, clubs, and players take part to play. This month-long tournament features some of the best grassroots players and is a great a platform for selectors and offers an opportunity to be picked by bigger clubs.
  • In 2018, we are fielding a team in collaboration with Gorkha United Football Club at the 12th Tamchon Northeast Football Tournament.
